However, it’s expensive, and it lacks color-coding. Also, quality control was a little disappointing. How so? Read on to find out more!

Features
The Jolly Green Roasting Sticks pack down small, but telescope when in use to put you at a safe distance away from the fire.
The tines or prongs are pretty sharp, so it comes with these red colored tip protectors.
Each Jolly Green Roasting Stick also comes with what they call an easy spin thumbwheel, because I guess you can spin it easily with just your thumb, but I’m just gonna call it a rotating axle. This helps you very easily rotate the stick for an even roast.
The canvas storage pouch has a zippered opening.
Testing and Performance
I put the Jolly Green Marshmallow Roasting Sticks through these 4 tests:
- Sturdiness
- Ease of Use
- Ease of Clean Up
- Quality
Here’s how the Jolly Green Sticks performed.
Sturdiness
The Jolly Green Roasting Sticks are heavy duty, and can hold 4 hot dogs without flexing or bending too much. Here’s what it looked like with 4 hot dogs:
So, of course, the Jolly Green Sticks can also hold 4 marshmallows without any flex, and is super sturdy.
The tines are not too close together, so by skewering 2 marshmallows on each tine, the Jolly Green Sticks can hold 4 marshmallows easily.
Ease of Use
The Jolly Green Marshmallow Roasting Sticks retract and telescope easily, and it remains at the extended length firmly. I did notice that some roasting sticks were stiffer than others though.
When I used the Jolly Green Roasting Sticks to roast hot dogs, the hot dogs did not slip into the fire even when I hung them vertically downwards, because both tines went through the hot dogs, making them more secure.
However, when I roasted marshmallows with the Jolly Green Sticks, when I hung them downwards as well, you can see a little bit of slipping from the traces of marshmallow goo. This is probably because only 1 tine went through each marshmallow, which feels less secure. Also, the tines are quite thick and heavy duty, so more heat was probably conducted through it. But the good thing here is that the slipping is pretty minimal.
The Jolly Green Roasting Sticks each come with a rotating axle, so it’s really easy to rotate the sticks for that even roast. I also did not notice any spinning of hot dogs or marshmallows, even though only 1 tine went through each marshmallow. There could be spinning if you’re using a bigger fire though.
The tines are sharp, so it was super easy for me to skewer both hot dogs and marshmallows. I did not roast meats, but I figure that it shouldn’t be a big issue skewering meats as well.
Clean Up
To clean the Jolly Green Roasting Sticks, I just tossed them in soapy water for a couple of hours and they were mostly clean after. I noticed just 1 speck of marshmallow goo after soaking, which I cleaned off easily.
Quality
The stainless steel of the Jolly Green Roasting Sticks is Type 410, which I’m not very familiar with. I think it’s supposed to be less rust resistant than the more common Type 304 stainless steel, but thankfully I did not notice any rust on my Jolly Green Sticks after soaking them in water for cleaning and not drying them after. Also, Jolly Green has confirmed that they got a passing grade for food contact material.
The handle is made of wood, is smooth and is painted over with this blue color.
It’s not fixed to the rod, but this is to allow the rotating axle to rotate the stick. One negative here is that out of the box, one of the handles was cracked. It’s still functional, but I expected better quality control.
As for the storage pouch, zippers are smooth. Packing up the sticks into the pouch is easy as well and not a tight fit.
Pros and Cons
For pros, I found that the Jolly Green Roasting Sticks are very sturdy and heavy duty, and can roast anything from marshmallows to multiple hot dogs. It also comes with a rotating axle for easy rotation.
As for cons, my biggest gripe is that the Jolly Green Sticks is one of my most expensive roasting sticks.
Because of the price point, I expected the quality control to be better, but one of my handles was cracked out of the box. It also does not come in different colors.
Recommendation
Would I recommend the Jolly Green Roasting Sticks?
I think that the Jolly Green Sticks are outstanding in terms of being heavy duty and sturdy, and it gets the job done for sure, no matter what you’re roasting.
But, these roasting sticks are also one of my most expensive. Because of that, these sticks did not really meet my expectations in terms of quality and value for money.
I actually bought other roasting sticks that are just as high quality and just as heavy duty, but are significantly cheaper, which gives you better value for money than these Jolly Green Roasting Sticks do.
