2. Pack Away

The pack-away steps are also pretty straightforward. Here’s how:

  1. Grab 2 of the 4 corners (preferably opposite ends) and lift it off the ground.
  2. Pull everything together into a bundle.
  3. Slide it back into the carry bag feet first until fully stored.

Pack away time: ~21 seconds (including getting it back into the bag)

3. Unfolded Dimensions

Here are the measured dimensions for the unfolded chair:

  • Width: 32in (81.2cm) from armrest to armrest
  • Depth: 21.3in (54.0cm) from side length
  • Height: 34.7in (88.2cm) from ground to top of chair

4. Detailed Measurements

Usually, there is often a difference between what is marketed and the real measurements, particularly regarding the seat height when someone is sitting on it.

  • Total seat length: 21.3in (54.0cm)
  • Real seat length: 17.3in (44.0cm)
  • Seat depth: 17.1in (43.4cm)
  • Front seat height: 16in (40.6cm)
  • Actual seat height: 11in (28.0cm)
  • Backrest height: 19.75in (50.2cm)
  • Backrest width: 20in (50.7cm)
  • Recline angle: ~5 degrees (very slight)

The top 2.75in (7.0cm) of backrest height is actually very flimsy, with little support from the ends

5. Mesh

As for the amount of mesh this Coleman chair has, here are the specifics:

  • Backrest Composition: ~70% mesh
  • Seat Composition: Full fabric
  • Total Mesh Coverage: ~35% of the chair

The backrest has 70% mesh on it.

Breathability Test:

  • Mesh Backrest Temp Start: 75.7°F
  • Mesh Backrest Temp After 1 Hour: 77.9°F (Increase: 2.9%)
  • Fabric Seat Temp Start: 76.5°F
  • Fabric Seat Temp After 1 Hour: 84.9°F (Increase: 11.0%)

Having more mesh is more breathable and keeps you cooler on hotter days compared to full fabric options.

6. Armrests

One feature this chair has is armrests.

The armrest has the same fabric as the seat.

Take note that Coleman says these armrests are adjustable. But I noticed that the connection at the back is rigid; mine doesn’t move at all, hence it’s not actually adjustable for me.

This connection is actually rigid; it doesn’t really move.

7. Storage

As for storage options, this chair has only 1 mesh cup-holder, and it holds up to only a single can, and nothing too much bigger. There are no pockets on this chair.

  • Cup Holder: 2.8in (7.1cm)

The cupholder only fits a single can.

8. Materials

As for materials, the fabric isn’t very padded, it’s on the thinner side but not lightweight, and no info was provided on what material it is.

  • Poles: Alloy steel (0.63in / 1.6cm thick)
  • Weight Capacity: Supports up to 250lbs (113kg)
  • Origin: Made in China

9. Stability

For stability, here’s what I noticed:

  • Structure: Every side of the chair has an X-pole structure for better stability
  • Feet: Decently big feet
  • Joints: Simple rivets at pole joints

Overall, I had no issues with stability despite the budget build.

10. Portability

The carry bag has a single non-adjustable webbing strap that allows you to sling it over your shoulder when you’re done packing it up, making for easy carry.

11. Warranty

The Coleman Broadband Chair has a 1-year warranty, pretty standard for budget camping chairs.

12. Pros & Cons

Now, what are the pros and cons, and would I recommend the Coleman Broadband Mesh Quad Chair?

For pros, the biggest benefit of buying this Coleman chair is its budget price, and it’s definitely one of the cheapest options out there.

I love the easy setup as well, just pull on 2 opposite corners, and the entire chair is basically up. And a big pro is that the pack away is equally easy; it slips into the carry bag very easily.

This chair has all the basic features, like a mesh backrest so it doesn’t get too hot, a mesh cupholder for hydration, and armrests so you can better relax.

It doesn’t have any pockets for your phone, the armrests are not adjustable, there’s no head or neck rest, and of course, no fancy features like reclining or rocking functions.

The Coleman sags quite a bit when you sit on it, so the overall height becomes much lower than expected (11in vs 18in).

The materials are just average build, steel with a probably polyester fabric, the weight capacity isn’t high at all, and you’ll also find several loose threads along the way.

The author is checking the material of the Coleman Broadband Chair's poles.
The materials are pretty average, with the 0.63in thick alloy steel poles.

Overall Recommendation

If this fits your budget, I think you get a very decent barebones chair for the price that you pay, and I would recommend it if you can’t afford anything more expensive. The Coleman Broadband Mesh Quad Chair is a great chair on a tight budget.
