Check out the Kelty Low Loveseat:

1. Set Up

To set up this chair, follow these steps:

  1. Lay it on the ground, locate the three buckles holding the bag together, and undo all of them.
  2. Roll open the carry bag.
  3. Slide the chair out from its feet pocket and stand it upright.
  4. Locate the four corners of the chair (backrest and armrests).
  5. Grab opposite ends (one backrest and one armrest), pull them away from each other.

Tip: You may need to lean your weight on either side to make the fabric taut.

2. Pack Away

To pack away the chair, follow these steps:

  1. Grab opposite corners again, lift it off the ground, and pull everything together.
  2. Open the carry bag, lay it on the ground, and slot the feet into the pocket at the bottom.
  3. Flip the bag slightly to access both sides of the buckle, wrap the chair up nice and snug into the bag.
  4. Do up the 3 buckles.

3. Unfolded Dimensions

As for the unfolded dimensions, here’s what I measured:

  • Width: 54in (137.2cm) from armrest to armrest
  • Length: 25.0in (63.5cm) from back of chair to front of seat
  • Height: 32.5in (82.6cm) from ground to top

4. Seat Size

Now, if you want more detailed seat measurements, here is everything to know.

  • Total seat width: 41.4in (105.2cm)
  • Real seat width: 37.5in (95.3cm)
  • Seat depth: 18.5in (47.0cm)

There is a ridge in the middle that cuts into your back when you lie on it like a couch.

5. Seat Height

As for seat height, there is a significant difference between the front measurement and where you actually sit:

  • Front seat height: 13.5in (34.3cm)
  • Actual seat height: 8.5in (21.6cm)
The author is sitting on the Kelty Low Loveseat.
It slouches for about 5in.

It sits pretty low compared to a table.

6. Backrest

Now, for the backrest height and width:

  • Backrest height: 21.75in (55.2cm)
  • Backrest width: 41.75in (106.0cm)
  • Recline angle: ~15 degrees (slightly reclined, measured with digital protractor)
The author is leaning on the backrest of the Kelty Low Loveseat.
The backrest covers my entire back but not enough for head support.
The top part of it is also floppy and not rigid.

7. Armrests

One feature this chair has is armrests, which offer basic utility:

  • Material: Thickly padded, made of the same material as the rest of the chair.
  • Adjustability: Adjustable using buckles at the back. Tighten the webbing strap for shorter arms; loosen the connection for longer arms.
  • Comfort: Very comfortable padding, adjustable to fit different arm lengths.

The armrest is thickly padded.

You can adjust the height with this buckle without leaving the seat.

8. Cupholders

For storage, the Loveseat has 2 beverage holders (one in each armrest):

  • Dimensions: Each holder measures about 6.5in (16.5cm) in length by 4in (10.2cm) in width.
  • Height: About 3.5in (9cm).
  • Divider: Adjustable to fit anything and everything. With a divider, fits a can plus personal items (sunglasses, phone). Without a divider, it fits bigger items like a 1-liter Nalgene or plastic bottle.

9. Carry Bag

The carry bag doubles as a place to rest your feet or a padded dog mat (thick and padded).

The author is sitting on the Kelty Low Loveseat with the carry bag unfolded as a foot mat.
You can use the carry bag as a foot mat or pet mat.

10. Materials & Quality

As for materials, the build quality is generally solid:

  • Fabric: 600D polyester, thickly padded for warmth and comfort.
  • Poles: Steel poles, about 0.75in (1.9cm) thick. Simple X-pole structure on all sides.
  • Joints: Simple rivets; stitching was good all around the entire chair.
  • Feet: Decently big feet for stability, given how low to the ground it is.
  • Origin: Likely made in Cambodia (based on “if I’m not wrong” in testing notes).

11. Portability

As for portability, the carry bag has a shoulder strap:

  • Chair weight: 14.4lbs (~6.5kg)
  • Bag weight: 1lb (0.45kg)
  • Total weight: 15.4lbs (~7.0kg)
  • Packed size: 35in x 11in x 8in (89cm x 28cm x 20cm)

It is about 30% longer than a 2-person Coleman Sundome tent.

12. Warranty

Kelty provides standard warranty coverage on this chair:

  • Warranty Type: Limited Lifetime Warranty
  • Coverage: I’ve personally used it before when I had an issue with one of their tents, and they were very responsive.

13. Best Double Camp Chair?

Now, how does this Kelty Low Loveseat compare to other double camp chairs? There aren’t that many options when it comes to 2-person camp chairs, but a few to take note of are the Kelty Regular Loveseat (not the low one), the Mountain Summit Loveseat, and the Mountain Summit Quilted Loveseat.

Key Differences & Comparison Notes

  • Seat Height: The Low Loveseat comes in at 5.5in (14cm) shorter than the rest (Marketed 13.5in vs 19in). Note that when sat, it slouches by ~5in / 12.7cm more (Actual Sit: ~8.5in vs typical 11in).
  • Padding: The only chair without padding or quilted fabric is from Mountain Summit (Regular Loveseat).
  • Armrests: The Mountain Summit Regular Loveseat is the only one without adjustable armrests.
  • Cupholders: None of these chairs comes with pockets, but they all come with cupholders. I liked Kelty’s better because they’re adjustable, like I showed you (can fit a 1-liter Nalgene in one holder).
  • Warranty: Kelty’s warranty is much longer (Lifetime) compared to Mountain Summit’s (2 years).
  • Carry Bag: Kelty’s carry bag is much better than Mountain Summit’s, because you don’t have to wrestle with a super-tight carry bag like most camp chairs, and the bag even doubles as a foot mat or pet mat.

Recommendation from the Comparison Table

Overall Recommendation

Overall, I prefer Kelty over Mountain Summit for better features like adjustable cupholders and a lifetime warranty. Choose this Low Loveseat if you want a low seat height (8.5in), otherwise get the regular non-low version.
