Set Up
The entire setup is straightforward. Here’s how:
- Un-cinch the carry bag.
- Stand the carry bag up, and pull down on the bag.
- Grab opposite ends (backrest/armrest), and pull them open.
- Setup time ~11 seconds
Pack Away
The pack-away is basically the setup in reverse – Grab two opposite corners, pull it together, and feed the feet into the bag first.
Pro TipThere’s a lot of material at the top and the bag is tight, so stuffing everything back in takes slightly longer than you’d expect.

As for the unfolded dimensions, here’s what I measured:

Armrests
The armrests are slightly padded, in the same material as the chair.
They aren’t adjustable by design, but the rear connections can shift.
The high position won’t hold, though the middle sits fine. If your arms are longer, dropping them down gives more room to rest.
Storage
This chair has several storage options.
Left Armrest

Drainage
The chair also has two drainage points:
- Seat Drain Small hole under the rubber Coleman logo, about the size of a hole punch
- Cupholder Drain Also has a small hole for liquid spillage
The holes clear some of a spill, but not all of it — a fair bit of water stays put.
Materials
Here’s what it’s made of:
- Fabric Polyesterthickly padded

- Rivets Simple, typical of budget camping chairs, but held up well
- Stitching Loose threads found in several places (typical of Coleman gear), didn’t affect use

Stability
The feet are noticeably larger than most, which helps stop it tipping. It’s a standard X-pole frame, and between the wide feet and the heavy build, I found it very stable.
Portability
The carry bag has a shoulder strap (not padded, not adjustable) that works well enough.

Now, what are the pros and cons, and would I recommend the Coleman Big N Tall Camp Chair?
Large seat size
This chair has 19.1in of usable width – this is narrower than the marketed 24.0in once you subtract the steel bars, but still wider than most. It’s roomy enough to sit cross-legged.

Good seat height
The seat height of 15.2in is much taller than most camp chairs — almost dining-chair height, so it’s easy to get in and out of.

High weight limit
It supports up to 600.0lbs — double the other Coleman chairs I tested. The 0.87in poles are about 40% thicker than a regular chair’s, so less prone to bending or snapping.

Big and heavy
At 10.0lbs and a 38.1in packed length, it’s the heaviest and bulkiest chair here. The bigger seat, thicker poles, and heavier fabric are the trade-off.

The Coleman Big N Tall Chair is a great budget option for larger campers, offering a high weight capacity and great features at a relatively inexpensive price. I would definitely recommend it.
